Yarty nurses tackle Exeter 10k For ELF
On Friday 26th June, three NHS nurses from the Haematology Centre will be tackling Exeter's 10k River Run to further support the patients in their care, by raising funds for Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
Clinical Nurse Managers Nicki and Rachel will be joined by Student Nurse Jade along the route, which follows the canal paths of the River Exe before crossing the finish line at Piazza Terracina on Exeter Quay.
Nicki: "We are passionate about raising valuable funds for our incredible department charity, ELF, whose impact we see on Yarty ward every day. ELF support our patients, their families and friends, as well as funding equipment and further training for our NHS haematology colleagues. Every pound raised makes such a difference and counts towards a smile at the Haematology Centre! So please, if you can spare a donation, then the three of us, ELF, Yarty ward, our patients, their families and friends will be incredibly grateful."
The funds raised by the trio will help to fund ELF's vital patient services. These include counselling for patients coming to terms with their blood cancer diagnosis, transport to and from appointments, financial grants and assistance in applying for government benefits, hotel stays close to the ward and free refreshments from the ELF kiosk situated within the Haematology Centre waiting room.
Nicki, Rachel and Jade already do so much for the patients in their care on a daily basis. Please support them with a donation and a good luck message if you can!
