Uffculme School's show of support for one of their own

During the first half term of 2025, the pupils of Uffculme School and Uffculme Primary School took part in a Big Exercise Promise. Their goal was simple: exercise in any way they wanted and raise money for ELF.

Development Manager Andy attended a school assembly and was presented with a fantastic donation of £2,095.80 by Ava Mae, who has been supported by ELF during her time on Bramble ward, the children's ward at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital..

Mr Carpanini from Uffculme Primary said: "The two schools teamed up to raise money for ELF, a charity close to our hearts as a pupil in our primary school - with family links in the secondary school - is currently battling leukaemia and receiving their support. We wanted to show our joint support for this cause, firstly for the family within our school communities, but also for all future families affected by this disease in the Southwest in years to come."

Alongside the exercise challenge, both schools also held non-uniform days to raise additional funds for ELF.

Andy said: "It was wonderful seeing the two schools come together to support Ava-Mae and her family. I was made very welcome at the joint assembly and there were some great questions asked by the children about ELF's services. Ava-Mae is a brave little girl and it was lovely to see her back in school, happy and smiling amongst her peers, after all that she has been through on her blood cancer journey."

An amazing show of support and a fantastic total raised for ELF, allowing us to be there at a time of need for other families affected by blood cancer within our community. Well done all!
