Jess Green completes her one year of fundraising challenges

In September 2023, Jess Green set herself the herculean mission of completing twelve challenges over twelve months in aid of ELF. We are delighted to confirm that it is now very much mission complete!

Jess's year of challenges began with a trek along the 95 mile route of the Jurassic Coast Path. This was followed by rowing the length of the River Exe on a rowing machine (60 miles), cycling the North Dartmoor Way during a rain storm, running a Christmas 10k dressed as an elf, cycling the Tarka Trail, completing the Exeter Half Marathon, running the 10 mile Granite Way, completing The Mendip Maverick trail run and The Great West Run, a skydive. hiking the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, and undertaking a 20 mile kayak along the Exeter Canal. We're tired just writing it all down!

Jess chose to support ELF because blood cancer has had a big impact on her family:

"With my Uncle, Nan and then Dad all being diagnosed with various forms of Leukaemia and Lymphoma over the last few years, I quickly became aware of ELF. My Dad (Tony) had been in and out like a yo yo to Yarty Ward for 6 months with some seriously grim chemo and a stem cell transplant. and so it's lovely to know that charities like ELF exist."

Tony and the rest of Jess's family have been a staple presence at her challenges over the past year, regularly turning out to support Jess and to cheer her on. Indeed, they were also there to join Jess in her final challenge, as the family climbed Ben Nevis together.

"Challenge 12! Dad started the week with a night in hospital and ended it by reaching the summit of Ben Nevis on Saturday. That marks the end of the 12 months and having a family trip to Scotland was a perfect way to finish off the fundraising, as they have been the greatest cheerleaders throughout. Thank you to all of those that have donated and supported the last 12 months ❤️"

Our sincere thanks to Jess and her amazing efforts over the past year. She has raised a fantastic £2,225.00 for ELF in that period, funds which will be used to ensure that ELF is on hand to support other patients and families impacted by blood cancer within our community.

Thank you Jess, you are an absolute hero. Now please go and put your feet up!
